From a Chance Question to a Global Movement

Fifteen years ago, filmmaker Stuart Acker Holt was driving through the French Alps with his university music tutor, Suade Bergerman. As they climbed a steep pass, Stuart was amazed by Suade’s encyclopaedic knowledge—everything from the rock beneath their tyres to the trees silhouetted in fading light.
Curious, Stuart asked: “Who do you find most interesting?”
Without missing a beat, Suade replied: “My uncle—Roger Graef.”

That single introduction set off a chain of connections:
· From the legendary documentary filmmaker Sir Roger Graef
· To journalist Angie Mason
· To a single Jewish mother and reggae promoter pioneering.

This became the very first TRAIL—a new way of mapping human connection through meaningful introductions.

Since that day, Stuart has followed hundreds of Trails across continents, uncovering more than 200 stories of remarkable people.
